Echoes
2020
During the chaos and uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic, we find ourselves in an overwhelmed state of mind. Thoughts about fear, anxiety, politics, health, seclusion, the passage of time, social distancing, humanity, resilience, and hope constantly echo around in our heads. This photograph captured a moment where dancer Camilla Serrano expressed her own turmoil and reflected on the past, present, and future of COVID-19.

These photographs were taken at Olympic National Park in July of 2020, right after the COVID-19 lockdown was lifted in the United States. The park receives approximately 2.72 million visitors a year, but when these images were taken, the park was essentially empty. The abandoned landscapes offer flashbacks to the unique Covid-19 experience; a time when isolation, fear, boredom, hope, reconnection, patience, and the act of embracing the passing of time became part of our everyday routine.
