Holding the Weight Within
"Holding the Weight Within" is a photographic series that delves into the complexities of depression. Like a shadow, it can obscure one's inner world, making it challenging to express the depths of pain and isolation. Each image in "Holding the Weight Within" conveys a fragment of the emotional spectrum that characterizes depression. From the heaviness of solitude to the fragile glimmers of hope, these photographs invite viewers to connect with the profound yet often concealed experiences of those living with depression.
Depression, a condition that can seclude and silence, finds a voice in the gestures, textures, and movements of the hands. Each photograph in this project captures the intricate nuances of this language, from the weight of solitude to the reach for connection. I hope that "Holding the Weight Within" serves as a visual catalyst for change, encouraging people to reach out, to listen, and to make a difference in the lives of those struggling with their mental health. Together, we can be a part of the solution, offering hope and support to those who need it most.

Stones of Remembrance
One technique offered by therapists to cope with stress, anxiety, and even post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms is to carry a physical object on your body to remind you of the present. This object can be anything; a rubberband on your wrist, a piece of jewelry, or even a stone.
For this project, various people were asked to take note of the moments during the day when they felt overwhelmed. They take a moment to recognize their surroundings, breathe, and surrender to hope. They were asked to photograph their surroundings with a polaroid camera. The images taken were then transferred onto stones to create a new coping object.
Each stone is a glimpse into the lives of those who have confronted the darkest of moments and emerged with renewed strength. The imagery captures the beauty of vulnerability, the resilience in pain, and the human connections that can provide a lifeline in times of crisis. It encourages viewers to recognize the hidden battles in their own lives or in the lives of their loved ones, fostering a sense of understanding and support.
Viewers are invited to take a stone with them, to practice mindfulness in moments of hardship, stress, or loneliness. The stone is there to replace the weight of suffering with the presence of hope.
